Description

The GEC4500 Single-unit self-starting generator set controller is designed for stand-alone generator set automation, providing reliable control for automatic engine start and shutdown through remote start signals. The controller combines generator monitoring, electrical parameter measurement, communication, alarm management, and configurable control functions in a compact unit.

The GEC4500 series includes several controller configurations to meet different generator automation requirements. Depending on the model, users can select basic stand-alone control, mains detection and AMF control, CANBUS communication, RS485 communication, or 4G-based remote monitoring functions.

GEC4500 Series Models

The GEC4500 series provides flexible options for different generator set applications.

GEC4510 is designed for stand-alone automation. It controls the automatic start and shutdown of the generator set according to remote start signals and is suitable for basic single-generator automation applications.

GEC4520 adds mains power detection and automatic mains/generator switching control based on the GEC4510. With AMF functionality, it is suitable for applications consisting of one mains power source and one generator.

GEC4510-4G extends the GEC4510 with 4G communication. It supports remote real-time monitoring, remote start and stop, remote parameter adjustment, and access to start-up and fault curves.

GEC4520-4G combines the AMF functions of the GEC4520 with 4G remote monitoring capabilities, providing a practical option for generator sets that require remote operation and mains failure management.

Color LCD and Multilingual Operation

The controller uses a 320 × 240 color LCD with backlight, providing clear visualization of operating information and electrical parameters. The interface supports six languages: Simplified Chinese, English, Spanish, Russian, French, and Turkish.

The operator panel uses silicone buttons designed for reliable operation across different temperature conditions. The screen is protected by hardware acrylic material, which provides improved resistance to daily wear and scratches.

Generator and Mains Electrical Monitoring

The GEC4500 controller can collect and display key electrical parameters of the generator and, depending on the model, mains supply. Monitoring functions include three-phase voltage, three-phase current, frequency, and power.

The controller supports 1P2W, 2P3W, and 3P4W AC systems, with an AC voltage measurement range of 15–360V phase-to-neutral and a frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz.

This measurement capability helps operators understand generator operating conditions and provides the controller with the electrical information required for automation and protection functions.

Multiple Input and Output Interfaces

The GEC4500 is equipped with practical I/O resources for generator control and signal acquisition. The standard configuration includes 3+1 digital input ports, 3+1 relay output ports, and 4 analog input ports.

These interfaces allow the controller to receive operating signals from the generator set and provide corresponding control outputs. The available inputs and outputs can support different control configurations depending on the selected model and application requirements.

RS485, CANBUS and 4G Communication

Communication capability varies across the GEC4500 series. Selected models provide an RS485 interface and support the MODBUS protocol for industrial communication and remote monitoring.

Models equipped with CANBUS support CANBUS (J1939) communication, making them suitable for compatible electronically controlled engines and generator set configurations.

For applications requiring remote access, 4G versions provide functions such as remote real-time monitoring, remote start and stop, parameter adjustment, and viewing of start-up and fault curves. This can help maintenance personnel access generator operating information without being physically beside the controller.

USB Programming and Parameter Configuration

USB and RS485 interfaces are available for programming and configuration according to the selected model. These interfaces provide practical options for controller parameter adjustment, commissioning, and maintenance.

The combination of local configuration and communication functions allows the controller to be adapted to different generator set control requirements without changing the overall controller architecture.

Automatic Start and Shutdown Control

The core function of the Single-unit self-starting generator set controller is automatic generator operation. For GEC4510-based configurations, remote start signals can initiate the generator start-up sequence, while corresponding control logic manages shutdown.

For GEC4520-based configurations, mains power detection and AMF functions add automatic coordination between the mains supply and generator. When used in a suitable standby power application, this allows the controller to manage generator operation according to mains availability.

Real-time Clock and History Recording

The GEC4500 series supports real-time clock and historical recording functions. Recording operating and fault information can help maintenance personnel review previous events and understand generator operating conditions.

Historical information can be particularly useful when troubleshooting intermittent faults or reviewing generator behavior after an unexpected event.

Compact Installation Design

The standard controller dimensions are approximately 152 × 100 × 45 mm, while 4G versions use a deeper 152 × 100 × 85 mm housing. Standard installation dimensions are approximately 115 × 89 mm, with 4G versions using approximately 117 × 89 mm.

This compact structure allows the controller to be integrated into generator control panels where installation space is limited.

Operating Environment and Application

The GEC4500 is designed for operation across a temperature range of -25°C to +70°C, with a storage temperature range of -30°C to +80°C.

Its combination of automatic control, electrical monitoring, communication, and remote management functions makes the GEC4500 series suitable for stand-alone generator automation, standby power applications, and selected mobile generator applications such as refrigerated truck generator sets.

Why Choose the GEC4500 Series?

The GEC4500 series provides different configurations instead of using one controller for every application. Users can select a basic GEC4510 for stand-alone automation, a GEC4520 when mains detection and AMF are required, or communication-equipped and 4G versions when remote monitoring is an important requirement.

With multilingual operation, color LCD display, flexible I/O, electrical parameter monitoring, RS485, CANBUS, USB, and optional 4G communication, the GEC4500 Single-unit self-starting generator set controller provides a practical control solution for generator set manufacturers, system integrators, and power equipment applications.
